Active Safety and Chassis is a unit within Research and Development at Volvo Cars. We are passionate in developing technology that enables Volvo Cars to fulfil it's agressive targets to be leading in the areas of Active Safety and Vehicle Dynamics.

The Chassis department is supporting these ambitions by developing first class mechanics, electronics and software for Suspension, Brakes and Steering. We are looking for a Software Engineer in the area of Steering electronics to develop future Steering technology. The position is placed at the Steering Electronics and Functions group. As a Software Engineer you will be responsible for the software components in the control system.

Main tasks:

Collection and documentation of component requirements in terms of Functional requirements, Architectural requirements, Vehicle Dynamics attributes, Legal requirements etc.
Development of component specifications in a database environment (Elektra).
Collaboration with System Engineers for all interfacing systems to assure correct requirements.
Support concept and project leaders in evaluation of supplier implementation, quality assurance and balancing of conflicting requirements.
Lead and participate in specification reviews to assure good quality.
Qualifications:

You have a Master or Bachelor of Science in Electrical engineering, Mechatronics or similar competence through other education and /or professional experience.
You are fluent in English, both written and spoken.
We want you to be communicative and a strong team player.
We are looking for a thorough, independent and passionate engineer actively driving your work guided by customer focus and common objectives, not detailed instructions.
We expect you to have the desire and ability to contribute in the work to develop both the team and the work processes.
You have a passion for cars and a drivers license (swedish category B).
Additional qualifications we appreciate are:

Experience from development of electronic hardware and software for embedded systems in industrial applications.
Eperience from product development in the car industry.
Experience from Volvo Car's product development process.
Experience from working with system safety, preferably according to ISO 26262.
Experience from requirement handling in a database environment, preferably Elektra.
Fluent in Swedish, both written and spoken.
Experience from international, professional negotiations.
