Volvo Powertrain is the Strategic Centre for powertrain issues in the Volvo Group. The scope covers complete powertrain systems, components such as engines, transmissions and driven axles, including development, manufacturing, sourcing, partnership, installation service and support in close co-operation with the customers. Volvo Powertrain has operations in Sweden, France, Spain, North and South America and Japan.
Within Volvo Powertrain site Malmö in Sweden, we are looking for a Test Engineer to department 5420 Engine Testing.
The Powertrain team in Malmö supports the Volvo Group with engineering and test resourcesin the engine development domain with focus on engine performance development and on turbo systems.
Within the test team we test complete diesel engines, engine components and gas turbines.
Large effort is done on reducing exhaust gas emissions and thereby makes the engines more environmental friendly. Large parts of the testing are within this field.
Job description
Plan and communicate with projects and customers in order to establish test plans
Test engines according to agreed test codes and time plan
Preparation and instrumentation of engines
Use advanced instruments for exhaust gas emissions and particulates
Evaluation of tests
Develop methods to improve efficiency of testing
Required Competencies
B.Sc or M.Sc in mechanical engineering
Experience of measuring systems or engine engineering is an advantage
Personal interest in combustion engines and experience of mechanic work is valued
Good knowledge in written and spoken English and Swedish
Profile
You have an open and positive attitude, you are goal oriented, flexible and able to communicate and work on your own initiative
The job is dependent of a good network within and outside the company; therefore your ability to communicate and work with persons in different areas in a global multi-cultural environment is essential
